Nordstar Airlines summed up implementation of the program of transportation of residents of Norilsk during the 3rd stage of reconstruction of the runway of Norilsk Airport

On September 24, NordStar Airlines performed its first flight to Norilsk after the third and final stage of reconstruction of the runway of Norilsk Airport, which lasted from June 4 to September 22, 2018. Boeing 737-800 en route from Moscow to Norilsk was the first to land on a completely renovated runway of Norilsk Airport.

The aircraft commander of NordStar Airlines, who operated the first flight, noted the particular importance of the performed reconstruction of the transpolar airport for the safe and comfortable operation of aircrafts for passengers and appreciated the high quality of the repaired runway.

According to the results of performance of the flight schedule to/from Norilsk Airport in the period of reconstruction of the runway from June 4 to September 22, 2018, 1,342 flights were conducted by NordStar aircrafts to and from the air harbor, of which 570 flights — on the route Norilsk — Krasnoyarsk — Norilsk, 625 flights — on the route Norilsk — Moscow — Norilsk, 118 flight — on the route Norilsk — Surgut — Norilsk.

Passenger traffic on NordStar Airlines flights to Norilsk amounted to 148,569 passengers, which is comparable to passenger traffic during the same periods preceding the reconstruction. 55,600 passengers were transposed on the route Norilsk — Krasnoyarsk — Norilsk, 84,371 passengers on the route Norilsk — Moscow — Norilsk and 5,472 passengers on the route Norilsk — Surgut — Norilsk.

Flight regularity rate amounted to 84.9%. The main reason for changes in the schedule was adverse weather conditions at Norilsk Airport, which prevented departure and/or arrival of aircrafts.

A unique program for transportation of residents of Norilsk allowed to preserve flight connection of the city with the mainland and ensure transportation of residents to places of summer vacation despite the construction and repair works on the runway. Due to the well-coordinated collaborative work of the air enterprises involved in implementation of this project, reconstruction of the runway at all three stages was carried out without closing of Norilsk Airport and transportation of residents of Norilsk was conducted on a regular basis.

With opening of the runway at Norilsk Airport NordStar Airlines resumed the established flight program from Norilsk Airport to the cities of Russia. In the autumn-winter period of 2018-2019 residents of Norilsk will be able to fly on the usual routes to Krasnoyarsk, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Samara, Krasnodar, Abakan, Yekaterinburg, Rostov-on-Don, Ufa, Belgorod, Nizhny Novgorod.
